First day back solo in the gym and I have to admit that I felt a little off my game.
I'm not quite as strong as I used to be but I am noticing some gains again with a higher protein diet to supplement.
After spending so long doing everything with barbells and dumbbells , I am also having to readjust to more machine based exercise as well as teach myself how to operate! Having said that, most equipment at Jetts is pretty straight forward.
The program is pretty simple and is divide into push, pull and legs. There are a handful of options in each category but a limit to how many I can pick from each. Each exercise is three sets with no more than a minute rest between and no more than 20 reps. I am still sorting out what will be of post benefit to me for what I want... which isn't really that much.
I can do pushups on my toes - no dramas - but I'd like to be able to do them much deeper. I want to be able to do body weight dips and chinups. Otherwise... just get stronger!
On the side I'm working on running and I've been doing alright with that... making steady progress but not enough for me to try stepping out on my own just yet. In the meantime, I've been keeping the cardio through cycling. The spin bike (see my favourite setup at the side) is the best but sometimes I gotta make do with a regular exercise bike. I find them a touch frustrating because I can only adjust the heigh but no the horizontal positioning which means it is more difficult to target my hamstrings and butt. The also have these rediculously oversized seats which are not comfortable and have been wriggling around an awful lot try to stay in the one position.
The next couple of weeks I will have to see how well I've set up my program so that I can rest and get a good balance between cardio & weights.
Otherwise, generalised lack of anything significantly exciting happening. It is May and there are a few birthdays coming up in relatively close proximity as well as a soon-to-be born.
I'm heading back into another work week. I think it is time for a change in direction in that department but at the moment, I haven't a clue as to how to get that under way. Guess it will something of project for me to occupy my spare time.
Otherwise, nothing much to report.
